This episode concludes our series, “It’s a Livin,’” focusing on jobs that force you to play the bad guy.
Producer Jesse Bo Widmark sits down with Tyler, a veteran backyard wrestler, who plays “the heel” in these free-for-all matches, taking abuse from his opponents and the crowd in turn.
Episode broadcasts 10am from KCPR San Luis Obispo 91.3 fm Tuesday, June 30, 2009. This is the last episode of season one! But we’ll be hard at work, cooking up new stuff for season two in September–and hopefully have a few tidbits this summer.

This week, SLObispo welcomes a brand new Producer, Meagan Gonzaga, of Cal Poly’s Journalism Department, who will no doubt add a degree of professionalism to SLObispo, aside from bringing back a female perspective to our temporarily all Duder line-up.
This week, Meagan brings a first hand account of one of the most trying jobs to be had on a college campus: Tele-fundraising in a student call center.
Tune in, and meet the phoneline archetypes that haunt every weary caller who cold calls on behalf of his or her college.
Episode airs tomorrow, Tuesday, June 16th on KCPR, Sal Luis Obispo 91.3 fm.

The perfect job–talked about like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and hunted like the elusive unicorn (my great uncle was a unicorn hunter. He died a very unhappy man.) As a culture, and especially in this time of economic turmoil, we are obsessed with the perfect job, that impossible amalgam of self-fulfillment and self-sufficience. The idea that someday, somehow, we’ll be able to do what we love and get paid for it, too.
This month, SLObispo dashes all those hopes and brings you stories of people working not just imperfect jobs, but bad jobs–jobs that people are hated for, or jobs that make those people hate themselves. Jobs of moral conundrum and reprehension. We bring you the job world’s bottom of the barrel in our series for June: It’s a Livin’.
This week: Dealer of Death. Join me, Carl B. Richetti, as I explore a warehouse on the outskirts of SLO, the strange creatures that creep and crawl within its walls, and the woman who cares for them all. It’s the story of Megan Bailey, a woman in love with the animals for which she toils, and the dubious fates that she sends them off to. Don’t miss it!
Tuesday, June 2nd, we will re-air our “Let’s Talk About Sex” stories, all cobbled together as one giant show.
So if you missed any of these episodes, here’s your second chance. Hearing them all together, you’ll get the full SLObispo sextacular experience.
Episode will be broadcast from KCPR, San Luis Obispo 91.3 fm, home of the burnt dog.

Splendor of Fear – Tales from the Deep Dark

The following Tuesday (May 12), we begin our May series: Stories from the Deep Dark. Listen in for stories of people plunging into the unknown, rushing headlong toward their fears. Producer Brian Hildebrand will take you on a tour of the actual Deep Dark buried in the bowels of San Luis Obispo. And contributor Lauren Schenkman tells a story of 3 girls heading to the edge of town in the dead of night on an epic adventure–epic in their minds, at least. Our first short story! Join us this week for an in depth look at the cougar and her prey. You’ll hear exactly what goes on in this town via craigslist, as well as the outcome of my own cougar hunting expedition.
